We’re breaking down 5 things we know about about Camila’s upcoming solo album--get all the details right here on News Feed!
Camila has already impressed as a solo artist with “Crying in the Club”, so what else can we expect from her debut album? Let’s break it down…
Earlier this year, Camila announced she’ll be dropping a solo album called “The Hurting. The Healing. The Loving.” Although Camila has yet to share an exact date as to when the album will be released, she told AMP Radio that she thinks it will be in September.
So what can fans expect from the album come fall? Camila told Fault magazine of her solo sound QUOTE, “They are going to feel who I am. They are going to get a chunk of my heart, my experiences, my fantasies and everything in between.” When asked how she would describe the sound in three words, she answered QUOTE, “I couldn’t possibly boil it all down to three words, but it will be me in sound form.” That’s definitely a sound we can get behind.
Camila has also revealed that her debut album will be about her losing touch with who she is, and the journey to finding herself again. She said of the writing process QUOTE, “I feel like, for a long time, I didn’t really know how to deal with the emotions that I was feeling and the hurt that I was feeling...I felt like I was just trying to be numb and to pretend that everything was fine so I didn’t have to feel it as much...I was at ‘the hurting’ kind of like at the beginning of the year…and then went into ‘the healing’...And now I feel like I’m at ‘the loving’”. Call me crazy but I think that might be why the album is called “The hurting. The healing. The loving”...
In addition to writing about her journey to find herself again, Camila’s album will also touch on her family’s experience as immigrants. The Cuban native told Glamour magazine QUOTE, "I’m in the process of writing about our whole journey. I want to make a love song for immigrants. That word, immigrant, has such a negative connotation — I can just imagine all the little girls who have dreams of coming here and feel unwanted. It inspires me in my music to do my best to give [them] the light that I have." Love that!
And last but not least, we can definitely expect some crazy awesome collabs on the album. Diplo confirmed that Major Lazer has been making lots of music with Camila, and One Republic’s Ryan Tedder also teased on Twitter that his band has been collaborating with Camila, too.
I don’t know about you guys but after breaking down all this good stuff, I officially cannot WAIT for Camila’s album to drop later this year.
Thanks for Watching!
